Crawford Park

So today we took my son and his bike to the beautiful Crawford park. We want him off those training wheels by tomorrow. This park has miles of trail wandering through trees and over streams. I think it’s gorgeous and sort of a hidden treasure …in the hood. We set off down the trail, and quickly realized that this adventure would not be as easy as we thought. It took us a while to teach my son some techniques to get rolling by himself. Than we realized his tires were flat. Of course we didn’t tell lil’ man that. He is six years old and it’s high time he learn some persistence in this exercise thing. The first .25 mile consisted of him learning how to push himself forward. Then the training wheels were getting in the way. He fell every 10 feet or so. Yeah, I giggled inside, and in some cases had to put my head down so he wouldn’t see my smile. I suggested taking his trainers off completely before we got to the park, but hubby disagreed saying something about him learning balance. He kept pushing, and sweating, and complaining and eventually he got off and asked us to push his bike. Laziness, yes, but I knew it would happen LoL. He got back on and eventually started getting the hang of that balance thing. By tomorrow, he should be free-wheeling!

It rained for a minute too. The sun was still out and bright in the sky. It was eerie, but picturesque.
